The existence of The Knights of Mars-Nodens was first uncovered based upon discoveries made at Forsythe Security's web page on October 24, 2007 (a description of Sentry Sapagoo's revelation can be found here). At the time, Sapagoo found the word "NODENS" hidden in several places on the website. By using Google and various search parameters, a discovery was made in old folklore, which was ultimately put together and posted by Sentry Raevyss, who noticed a curious connection connection between Arthur Lydney (Y2Kveteran), Peter Severn, and Mars-Nodens. (However, this connection is speculative in nature and unconfirmed)

From research performed by various people at various places during various times, a general description of the god Mars-Nodens has emerged:

Nodens is one of the Elder Gods and appears as an elderly, human male with white hair — gray-bearded and hoary yet still vital and strong. He often rides in a chariot formed from a huge seashell pulled by some great beasts of legend. Nodens is served by the Nightgaunts. As a hunter, he will chase down evil creatures in the Dreamland. He prefers to hunt the servants of the Great Old Ones, or Nyarlathotep because they are usually the most intelligent and offer the best sport, but not necessarily because he wants to help humans being attacked by them.

[edit] Severn's Executive Report

In Severn's Executive Report, released to the Sentries starting February 3, 2008, hints were placed which named the Knights of Mars-Nodens specifically. It listed them as a part of the group fighting "Networked Eldritch Threats"--presumably the Council--among the Occultus Exercitus and the Takdaan ng Oras Kalakip, two unidentified parties. However, the report seemed to imply that the Knights of Mars-Nodens are in fact the same people (or a subdivision of) who work for Forsythe Security, for both parties do effectively the same thing (fight threats on the Networked Front) and both are bound by the Edict (and by extension the Agreement, making them part of the Council).
