On January 31st, October met up with a "blind", or anonymous courier, code named The Photographer, as part of a Chorazos data exchange. There, October got some satellite photographs:
Both photos are of a location on Fort Bliss Military Reservation,
just east of El Paso, Texas, at N 31.870632° W 106.27428°
The Chinese text on the side reads:
- 異暗坷現象特風險定
- 三(十一)日十月二千七年十二時
- 得克蕯斯州墨西哥邊境
- 北美洲星鸛十一
With the parenthetical on the second line appearing in the second image only. A translation:
- Line #1: Dangerous dark phenomenon
- Line #2: October 30th, 2007 time 12 o'clock -- The second photo is dated October 31st, also at noon.
- Line #3: Texas-Mexican border
- Line #4: North American satellite 11

I'm much more pleased with the value in this exchange, so we can dispense with picking at a scab. Again, photographic evidence would have been useful, but if that contact was an anonymous mule it might not advance us far, certainly not as far as the satellite prints do.
Your satellite photos are horrible, ugly and inferior to our own bird's view of the phenomenon, but they would still give many in military intelligence an aneurism. After all, it is impossible to capture mass hallucinations in satellite photos. Our agents frequently assist in mopping up the mess after the fact, but we have never found a way to predict where or when it will appear next. We suspect there are those who do know, though.
Chinese is a fascinating language; a challenge even for native speakers where what it means is more obvious than what it describes. The "unusual mysterious dark" phenomenon has a name; "unusual mysterious dark" is what that name means. Chinese is imprecise, though, and "strange hidden unfortunate events" is just as valid a translation for 異暗坷. I've heard it pronounced Yian-Ke or Yingamho or even Yian-Ho. We label the phenomenon with two different names: in high security circles it is labeled Hallucination-14; those who know the truth call it the Nightmare City.
With these photos, I'm willing to give you a little support, but let's be clear: we might well be in a ticking time bomb scenario. Moments of opportunity will remain moments of opportunity. If you were Forsythe affiliates, I might be able to do more in protecting you as my asset, but some collateral damage remains acceptable.

Overall, I continue to be pleased by the ingenuity of the Outpost. In my days there, it was all armchair quarterbacking and personal posturing with very little action.
