Y2Kveteran
Arthur Lydney is a Consultant on the bleeding edge of Network
Security. Having served proudly during the Y2K wars, and having
played a significant role in sending the Millennium Bug to it's
final resting place, Arthur has been an integral member of The
Outpost throughout it's history, though as of late he has been gone
from the Outpost. He lives in Boulder, Colorado, and works for
Forsythe Security under fellow Sentry
Peter Severn. His own personal website can be
found at ConsultantBunker.com [2].
Arthur's Writings
[edit] Greenbriar Hotel Conference and Fiasco
After the deaths of the other Sentries (barring Howard), Art was
scheduled to be a featured speaker at a conference at the
Greenbriar Hotel in West Virginia on November 2, 2007. The
conference was apparently a major Forsythe meeting which would
feature many upper government figures. However, Arthur never got to
attend.
When Arthur learned that five Sentries were meeting with some
Dreamers and an ex-Chorazos member in nearby Cass the weekend
before, Arthur traveled by ATV to the small WV town and proceeded
to conduct surveillance on them, in order to keep them safe should
some threat suddenly spring upon them. When some worried Sentries
online contacted him for help about the campers' wellfare (for the
campers had no means of contact with their networked associates),
Arthur uploaded several pictures he took to the Outpost showing the status of the
campers' ascent. Unfortunately, uncertain Sentries screwed up
everyone's plans.
Art followed the campers up the mountain and by doing so lost
contact with the networked Sentries. With no means of contacting
the campers, or now Art, the networked Sentries panicked and sought
out another means of possibly gaining information of what was going
on--they contacted Peter Severn, head of Forsythe Security. When
they informed him of what Art was up to, they realized their folly,
as Peter knew nothing of Art's activities. Soon enough, Art was
pulled from the mountain via helicopter, DC was kidnapped by
Forsythe, and Art's name was removed from the list of keynote
speakers at the Greenbriar Conference.
[edit] Fallout and the Cylinder
The Sentries didn't hear from Arthur again until November 2008,
when he updated his website with a few shallow clues leading to a
webpage: "fallout." On this webpage, he concealed urls to other
pages on his site and to images, each page corresponding to an
image. These images and pages, which were all tributes to the dead
Old Sentries (and Stu), led Sentries located around the eastern
half of the US to Indian Mounds to gather up the contents of
several deaddrops. How and why Art knew
the locations of the drops was unknown for a time, until one of Dr.
Riley's Sound Scouts caught a man in a black trenchcoat
setting down the box that Transtar would later pick up. This man was later confirmed to be
Art, as he had dug up a metal cylinder and taken it off with
him.
Peter Severn, Art’s boss, brought Art along with
him when he went to a particular conference in New York City on
December 19, 2008. During that day, Art met
up with three Sentries and assisted them in their scavenger hunt
through the city, carrying with him the cylinder the entire time.
He was curiously under watch by a particular Forsythe employee who
never revealed his name, but Art managed to give his caretaker the
slip a couple times in his journey through New York with the
Sentries.
When the Sentries reached the cloister, they met a man called the
“Gatekeeper,” who insisted that one Sentry had to sacrifice
themselves to come with him and return the cylinder to the
Dreamscape where it belonged. Art was momentarily terrified that he
would have to do it, until Bryce volunteered. Art handed over the
cylinder and immediately bolted in fear. Upon returning to
Forsythe, Art was effectively put under lockdown by Peter, who
disapproved of Art’s antics in NYC—though not before Art managed to
post to fallout an email from Peter about Art’s “lockdown” and a
new investigation—into Spukhafte Fernwirkung, who had just released
a personal message telling all members of Chorazos to hunt down Exu
and his followers.
