Bingo! It was such a nice day I decided to take the trip to Alphabet City to check out the Palm reader B.A. alluded to in her last batch of Craigslist postings. When l got to the Palm Reader and asked if there was a Nicole there, I was told yes. I said a friend had left a package and she perked up, telling me to come back in 10 minutes. When I returned, She sat me down and asked me again why I was there. Repeating my story, I said the package may have my friend's name on it, B.A. Saint Feline. She handed me the package and then told me that whoever left it had paid for a tarot reading. Seriously, I'm not sure if this is where B.A.'s part ended and where the pyschic's salespitch began.

Supposedly I'm going to live till I'm 91, have 3 kids, and move to either California or Florida. I should also watch someone with the letter J in their name and I have a heck of a problem with bad spirits. She was pretty adamant about selling me special white candles to cleanse me of the buggers. Two very special $220 candles. When I turned her down, she tried to sell me a $50 piece of green stone. Yikes!

Quote:
When you come out, the package is gone. Was it for her or did you leave it behind? Curious, I ask as you pass by me. You can't hear me. You shouldn't hear me. But you do. And you quietly purr

The white cat referred to in other Craigslist posts seems to live at or near the Palm Readers, as she was circling around outside the shop. Since B.A. saw the cat in her dreams, I suppose she can talk to dreamers just like Lovecraft's dream kitties.

I searched around looking for our angel, but no luck. I think our package had a part of her though. It included a note from a 'DC' which I assume was meant for B.A., and the severed gray/green finger from what I presume to be our angel statue.

I uploaded some images of the package contents...

So, what if B.A. and DC can see each other's waking hours through dreams? Lucid Dreaming? From this note and her postings it feels like when she dreams, she's seeing what he does in his waking life and can follow him. He can do the same for her. They both know this and communicate through their dreams. B.A. saw him leave this package for her in her dream and was supposed to pick it up. Instead, we intercepted it.

Does that mean there's two cities? Two New Yorks? The normal one B.A. wakes up to, and the chaotic one filled with destruction that she visits in her dreams? Is DC living in the hellish city that's experiencing the 'end times'? He asks for her protection...

Quote:
Extend to me your protection Saint Feline, from the suffering at the end of all things...

Maybe it's not B.A.'s protection. Maybe it's the cat's themselves... a real Saint Feline. I keep thinking of the Lovecraft cats.

Quote:
In the novella The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath by H. P. Lovecraft, cats are intelligent and organized in a paramilitary tribal system. They communicate in a complex language that can be understood and spoken by dreamers.

In the story, the cats save the character Randolph Carter from the moon beasts who wish to deliver him to the Crawling Chaos Nyarlathotep.

And then there's the finger. Didn't someone mention a statue with a missing finger legend? I don't remember it looking like DC's drawing though. And what's B.A. resisting? Something she's asked us to do...

Wow. I did not see this coming! There's something about this that is really exciting but, it's all a bit creepy. I don't know what's creepier - the cat or the finger! I would have fallen over the moment I saw either of them.

First of all: Shocked

But more than that, I'm confused. I can grasp the idea that she dreams of people, places, and things. I do that myself. I've dreamed of locations that I know, friends that I've had, things that I've been doing. What I cannot grasp is the idea that she dreamt of someone dropping off a package and then it being there. More than that, the package contained a finger broken off of a statue in her dreams.

I've been sitting here for an hour or so with this "Post a reply" page open trying to come up with something halfway intelligent to say about this. I'm at a complete loss. It just does not make any sort of sense and the moment that an idea does feel right, I can think of a thousand reasons why it's not. (ok, maybe only two or three). Most of them are something along the lines of "people do not talk to each other in their dreams" and "things from a dream cannot just manifest themselves physically thousands of miles away." Maybe I'm crazy and maybe I'm closed-minded (something that I have never really been accused of before), but I'm finding it a bit difficult to accept that I could be wrong on those things Smile

It's not that you don't raise some interesting points and great questions because you do. I think I just need to let some of this sink in a bit.

Going off topic (or to a topic that isn't as confusing) -

Congrats on the long life and three kids (if you want the kids, that is). But do yourself a favor - choose California over Florida. I've never lived in Florida, but I cannot imagine that it's half as nice as San Francisco! You'd have to be crazy not to love it here. Heck, even us crazies love it! You can't lose Wink

And, really, $220 to rid yourself of some bad spirits? I'm so glad that you didn't fall for her hard sell. After all, if they aren't bothering you, then how bad can they be? Laughing

Ok, so this has to be a hoax. HPhack's Arabic is weird, but he probably was just exposed to it recently without thinking about it. But other than that, it doesn't fall outside the realm of a fairly good hoaxer. Heck, I'm still not sure it wasn't getMEout doing a particularly brilliant performance art-type thing.

Think about it, the hoaxer just wrote some posts on craiglist, which told a story about a package. They arranged to have the person mentioned in the CLs have the package. What's so weird here?

Actually that's a mighty fine point you've raised there Ockham. Wink

The only real mystery that exists in this possibility is how she found the addresses of those who received packages, but even that [in today's day and age] doesn't seem completely out of the realm of King Conceivable.

Even though some people's dreams have been assimilated into her own dreams in various tangential ways and distributed via CL...how do we know she's actually dreaming these things and not just sitting at her computer with a cuppa coffee making it all up?

I could say I'm a 22 year old supermodel - but it doesn't make it so.

The package was left with a fellow psychic, and one who was trying to sell some pretty pricey candles at that....not sure I trust it.

....and has she really given us any reason to trust her?

So now we have BA's dreams manifesting themselves in finger-form in NYC... just when I thought the city couldn't get any more odd (New Jersey keeps sounding better and better. I understand the male:female ratio is in better favor down there, too.)

If we all stare at the finger picture really really hard, click our heels three times, and talk about there being "no place like home," do you think we can make it go "POOF!" and send it back to her? Confused And gah, why is it green?! It looks moldy and smelly (does it smell?!) and icky and weird. I should stop staring at the picture or I'll find the finger poking me in my sleep.

Creepy.

That would have to be the most annoying dream ever. =) "Ow! Stop poking me!"

Hoax or not, I have to admit I'm intrigued.

I called the number on B.A.'s website and left a message saying we found her Craigslist posts and intercepted her package. I told her that it contained the finger and a note from DC, who sounds like he may need help.

I also replied to her through Craigslist with the contents of the note. Hopefully she'll contact us back somehow.

I am too, actually. Logically, I know this is a hoax. That doesn't stop me from getting caught up in it and imagining all sorts of crazy things. Maybe that's because she put my dream into one of the Craigslist posts. I just don't know.

Hopefully! I bet it will just be more Craigslist, though. So frustrating.

This is so fuckin' awesome! We've got bizarre mail, freaky dreams, craigslist postings that don't involve sexual fetishes (shock), and now she whips out the big finger and gives it to you. (With optional good juju candles for the minor cost of $200 - how could you say no! The ambiance!)

I'm a little disappointed I didn't whip something like this together myself Razz I wonder if I can get her to spring a toenail or something from out of her dreams and stick it somewhere near me... Hark! The psychic toenail speaketh! It says "Trim me, for I groweth too long and poke through thine sock making big hole!" and then, when I pick up the toenail, I will heal the giant gaping wound in the cottony soft universe. Or something.

I need to come up with something better than a damn toenail to give her. Think, brain, think! Dream sexy!

Anyhow, I'm totally lovin' this shit, man. This is some seriously awesome work, hoax or not. This girl's brain must be so damn hot.

A couple of quick things:

The quote in the note:

"There is no greater sorrow than to recall happiness in times of misery"

is Dante.

I think that DC took the finger after reading the Craigslist posts of BA's dreams. Note that the last time BA went to the cemetery the finger was gone, presumably DC took it. He went to the psychic because he knew that BA would go there...is she (the psychic) a friend of BA from when she lived in New York?

Is the image of the woman on the note the psychic that had the package? Is it BA?

I'm still pretty confused. What is BA resisting doing that she is telling us to do?

No idea where the cemetery is supposed to be, it sounds like it isn't that far from the Village, but I can't tell from the dreams. Very frustrating.

I thought the finger was green to show that it wasn't marble, but perhaps a copper sculpture? Again, no idea.

Hey but at least we've made some progress here. Great work on putting the pieces together and finding the package.

Edit: don't kidnappers sometimes send fingers of victims to prove they have the victim? In a way, this finger is a similar idea - proof that the angel, or the dream of the angel, is real.

Or else this could be a pointing finger accusing us of taking too long to get the statue put back together.

Well our psychic did not look anything like the drawing. She looked young and fashionably dressed. No droopy shrouds there. I'd be more apt to guess it's B.A. since there's a cat there as well. B.A.'s already mentioned how they can't get enough of her. Heh, that's ripe for a joke.

Looks like you already hit the nail on the head. No matter what a guy says, in the end a sexy brain trumps all else. Very Happy

Maybe we should 'gain access' to the Craigslist servers and grab the IP that these postings are coming from and sniff her out?

I don't think she has given us any reason not to trust her. She hasn't asked us for anything. So far, instead of scamming anything from us, she is giving us things. Her friend even paid for the psychic reading for Sinyx. If the psychic tried to get him to pick up some more stuff, well, isn't that how that psychic makes her living, it would be odd if she didn't try to sell him something.

Me too. I'm not even sure what the "hoax" question is, is it that she is pretending to be a psychic and she isn't really? Would that surprise anyone? I'm sure there are some real psychics but I don't think that everyone who claims to be a psychic is one.

One reason it is awesome - she has kept a group of smart people busy sorting out her clues. We haven't solved most of them yet.

Question: from the note, is retrieving the finger the thing that DC did for BA ? The thing that BA was hesitant to do?
