the first page
the second page
the map

Does the eXu letter contain a hidden message to us? To HPHack? Is there a pattern to the letter placement? The spacing? Some Beale cypher in conjunction with the map?

Discuss.

We've been discussing on the other board that Jjason started.

Still, I think it's worth dividing this stuff up into a couple of threads. Having everything together leads to things getting jumbled up a bit.

Anyways, if there's anything anybody wants me to look really close at or take higher quality scans of, feel free to ask.

Couldn't imagine a better place than this thread for this new tidbit.

I was out running errands and when I returned, there was an actual damn phone message on my machine from the old man. I replayed the tape at least a dozen times, but there are still a few words I can't quite make out.

Exu on my answering machine wrote:
Well my boy you know how hate I these machines, but apparantly I've caught you out sleeping or preening(??). Things never do quite worked out as planned, do they? On a lighter note, I ran into an old teacher of yours and she mentioned she's become insolitus(??)! How exciting for her! I'll try you again later. Enjoy your afternoon, Howard.

So, still the mysterious old man, but an actual phone call from Exu. I'm starting to think he's got a trick up sleeve, he sounded almost giddy in the message. Even his sigh of disappointment seemed a little feigned.

Going to catch up on the messages here, but I thought you'd want to know. First I have to get the groceries in the fridge!

If you need some new ears on it, Howard, I'm . . . well . . . all ears? Razz
You could record and post the message to see if some of our esteemed board members can fiddle and faddle with the audio and get a clearer message out of it?
Just a thought . . .

insolitus..

i found insolitus.net ( which is blank)

and insolitusguild - a guild from World of Warcraft. I don't think his former music teacher plays WoW but then even I have tried that game, so,? (joking)

they say:

Quote:
We are currently looking for skilled players to join the ranks of Insolitus. Applicants must be at least lvl 60 with the intention of getting to lvl 70 quickly, have prior end-game raid experience, know your class role well in raiding, and above all be able to handle sarcasm and feel at home with the personalities of the other guild members. We have a lot of fun in and outside of raiding. We rip on each other and totally expect to be ripped back on as well. If you take offense to off-the-cuff humor then this guild might not be the right fit for you. Most classes are still open with an emphasis on healers... if you're a healer then why are you still reading this?!?!... fill out an app! =)

Plus they have a nifty thunder effect that plays while you are on their site.

and preening...man, Howard, I hope the sentries weren't the birds in BA's dreams or stories. The birds didn't fair well, unless you include feeding on flesh as a positive outcome. (yes, I know, it wasn't literal. Wink )

I believe Dr. Riley's first name was Elizabeth, if I remember Howard correctly.
It appears she uploaded a power point presentation on in.solit.us today.

http://in.solit.us

titled The Sky is Full of Strings, Brass & Percussion

Edit - you can search for Riley, or go directly here http://in.solit.us/archives/download/71466

woo. This is new. I know I searched for Riley yesterday. Although I didn't search for music sites and then riley. There are so many of these Web 2.0 user generated content sites. Smile

We found a total of 4 files on in.solit.us.

While looking at the power point slides, Sid noticed a link to gaia_sounds.pdf, and googled it. Fortunately, google had already found it, and led Sid back to in.solit.us

the ppt was uploaded by eriley.
the pdf that sid found was uploaded by dr. betty, and says "prepared by Dr. Betty Rily - Miskatonic University" in the corner.

after we found 2 files on in.solit.us, I looked on the main page for others.
There were 10 files listed as the "last files uploaded to in.solit.us"
I checked those and found "Hated Child Devouring" was uploaded by Saturday Betty today.
That was an mp3.
And sphinx found that omphalos.doc was uploaded by gaia. (clicking on gaia's profile, gaia's name is also Betty.

So - that's 4 files uploaded today, by gaia, Dr. betty, Saturday Betty, and eriley. Which all appear to by Dr. Elizabeth/Betty Riley from Miskatonic.

I'll add direct links to the files in a minute. Watch for updates.

Anomalous Gaia Sounds a pdf by Dr. Betty
The sky is full of strings a ppt by briley
Hated Child Devouring a mp3 by Saturday Betty
Omphalos a doc by gaia
